The Confederate States of America could not keep up with the mass industry of The Union. Though the south had more trained officers then the north, they lacked the means of production to fully equip there military. This was due to the fact that the south was mainly an Agricultural based region of the United States. You can't fight a war if your troops aren't fully supplied.
