Phantasy [73]

Kovalf was a committee-man. He had been one for two years and he couldn't take that out of his own head. This only shows how much the Russian society used to value their titles back then and this might actually be true today.

Kovalf could never forget that he was once a committee-man, therefore to boost his own importance, even to himself, he started calling himself "Major".

What is the tone/mood of the story a day in the country by anton chekov?
blagie [28]

A day in the country by Anton Chekov is a reflection of nature beauty and the wisdom of country folks. It also describes how people in the country live most of their lives by hunting and farming. It represents beauty and gift of Nature and Country vibe.

Further Explanation:

A Day in the Country, written by Anton Chekov is the simple but stimulating story of Danilka and Fyokla; two orphaned children, who are playing and having fun when a storm is moving towards their town urging the people to seek refuge. Around the same time, we see that Danilka's hand got stuck in a tree that needs support. Luckily Danilka’s sister Fyokla was able to get some help from the town’s cobbler, Terenty, who helped them in rescuing Danilka’s hand from the tree. After the storm passed away, the three of them spent their whole afternoon enjoying the country's splendours. Danilka is left awestruck by nature and its charm and beauty. The tone and mood which story conveys us is that joy and happiness is not always measured by expensive things or experiences. Since Danilka and Fyokla are beggars, they would believe that the world is very cruel to them, but when they saw the nature after the storm in their town, their opinions were changed. Then they were able to see the beauty of nature which one cannot experience in the city. The moral of the story is that simplicity is beauty. There are some things that other people have which you cannot afford but there are some things which you have and other people don't. In the end, it is your judgment.

We can have pre-modifiers that come before the word being modified and post modifiers that come after the modified word. In the sentences above, the pre-modifiers were mostly used.

In the first sentence, the article, 'the' was used to modify the nouns, 'trip' and 'mountain'. In the second sentence, the determiner, 'my' was used to modify the noun, 'friends'.
