landslides into bays and lakes can generate huge tsunami of local extent. what is it about bays and lakes that allows the tsunam
asambeis [7]

Landslides into bays and lakes can generate huge tsunami of local extent. The tsunamis associated with bays and lakes are so large because of their constricted topography.

Bay is a water body which is partially surrounded by land and is usually smaller and less enclosed than a gulf. However, the mouth of the bay is wider than gulf. The wave height increases as it comes near the shore, and it depends almost entirely upon the submarine topography offshore. Steeper shorelines tend to produce higher tsunami waves. Tsunamis can also occur in lacustrine environments. In lakes, the huge tsunamis are mainly generated because of the drastic mass-movement processes which displaces large volumes of water and triggered by seismic or aseismic phenomenon.
