Explanation:

Mining is just not the extraction , cleaning, processing and production of minerals. There are several industries which depend on the mined resources for example - transportation, construction, equipment manufacturing, service industry etc.  

Also, the minerals extracted from mining make the life of people better.

for example -  Lignite and Uranium produced by mining are essential resources for the production of electricity on which functioning of everything relies such as computer, hospitals, schools, airports etc.
