Realism is the art form where things are presented as they are, no addition of extra details or imagery. The form of this literature is contradictory to the metaphysical and romantic form of literature, in all aspects.
It is not true to say that realism finds mysterious relationships between things. This is against the very nature of realism, for it deals with the depiction and assertion of made up worlds and images. Realism is what's real, just how things appear, no addition, no subtraction. And for finding mysterious relationships between things, that will require the need to go the imaginary way, which is not what realism is for/about.
