Tom's Aunt makes him whitewash the fence he really doesn't want to do it so he tricks his friends into doing it. He says "it's not everyday a boy gets to whitewash a fence" which makes his friend more and more interested in it. Then he tells his friend, his aunt would only let one in one to two thousand boys work on her fence, which made his friend even more interested until he was begging to whitewash the fence.
