Answer:

In order to determine the function of an unknown gene knockout technique is used. PCR based deletion strategy is used for gene knockout in the case of yeast, which is unicellular species and eukaryotic. On the other hand, in the case of a mouse, which is multicellular and eukaryotic, for gene knock out homologous recombination technique is used.

The PCR based strategy is not appropriate for mice genes knockout, as mice are multicellular species and exhibit complex genome. While yeast constitutes some circular plasmids, known as 2 microns plasmids, which allows PCR based mutagenesis.

Studying the folding patterns of protein molecules can help microbiologists better understand cellular processes as well as some
xz_007 [3.2K]
The best answer in this case is C, "the researchers applied creativity to solve a problem in running an experiment".

Distributing the computing load across the global community by sharing processing power is a creative response to tackle the challenge in simulating protein folding for the experiment. This does not change or reduce the scientific merits of the experiment, so we can discount the first two answers (a & b). Answer d talks about well established scientific techniques, although the question wasn't really centered around the specific techniques, so it's not as relevant an answer as C.

In this course, you will learn about hormones and their effects on cells. Certain hormones bind to receptors at the plasma membr
vova2212 [387]

Cellular communication is the function of the plasma membrane that allows it to respond to certain stimuli from outside the cell and hormones to bind to receptors.

<h3>What is plasma membrane?</h3>

It is a double layer of lipids that covers and delimits the cells, serving as a border between the inside and the outside of the cell, and also allowing a physicochemical balance.

<h3>Characteristics of plasma membrane</h3>

Enables the development of compartments; allows or rejects the entry and/or exit of particles; acts as a mechanical defense; and reacts to external signals and stimuli.

It reacts and transmits information inside the cell, starting certain biochemical processes: cell division, cell movement or the segregation of biochemical substances.

Therefore, we can conclude that the main characteristic of the plasma membrane, that is, its ability to allow or reject the entry of certain molecules into the cell.
