Answer:

The Calvin cycle is a process that plants and algae use to turn carbon dioxide from the air into sugar, the food autotrophs need to grow.

Every living thing on Earth depends on the Calvin cycle. Plants depend on the Calvin cycle for energy and food. Other organisms, including herbivores, also depend on it indirectly because they depend on plants for food. Even organisms that eat other organisms, such as carnivores, depend on the Calvin cycle. Without it, they wouldn't have the food, energy, and nutrients they need to survive.

The Calvin cycle has four main steps: carbon fixation, reduction phase, carbohydrate formation, and regeneration phase. Energy to fuel chemical reactions in this sugar-generating process is provided by ATP and NADPH, chemical compounds which contain the energy plants have captured from sunlight.

d1i1m1o1n [39]

Based on research, microbes have been recently associated with the following four diseases that were once considered noninfectious:

  • gastric ulcers
  • multiple sclerosis
  • cancer
  • diabetes

<h3>What are microbes?</h3>

Microbes refers to microscopic organisms, that is organisms which can not be seen with the ordinary eye but with the aid of a microscope.

Microbes consists of the following organisms:

  • bacteria
  • fungi
  • protozoa
  • viruses

Some microbes are not harmful while many other microbes are harmful and are known to be the causative organisms for many diseases.

The diseases that are caused by microbes can be passed from one person to another and are known as infectious diseases.

However, recent research have linked microbes to some diseases such as gastric ulcer, multiple sclerosis, cancer, and diabetes which were once considered non-infectious.

Example are given below;

  • gastric ulcer caused by <em>Helicobacter pylori</em>
  • Multiple sclerosis caused by Epstein-Barr virus
  • Cancer caused by human papilloma viruses, hepatitis B and C viruses
  • Diabetes caused by E. coli and Candida spp.

In conclusion, microbes cause infectious diseases.

Which is not true of STRs?
sertanlavr [38]

Answer:

A

Explanation:

These are small consecutive repetitive sections of the DNA – mostly between 5 – 50 times repetitions. They are not part of coding regions (genes) and therefore are prone to non-lethal mutations of DNA. They are therefore very variable between individuals and can be used for DNA forensic identification.

anastassius [24]
The structure that is responsible for releasing energy from food molecules in some singled celled organisms is MITOCHONDRIA.<span> The major function of mitochondria is to carry out cellular respiration, which make energy available for the cells to use. The mitochondria is also called the power house of the cell, because it is the organelle that specializes in turning the food molecules into the energy form that is usable by the cells.</span><span />
