Let t=time it took Kwan to go up the hill

Then 3-t=time it took him to go down the hill

Distance(d) equals Rate(r) times Time(t) or d=rt; r=d/t and t=d/r

distance up the hill = distance down the hill

distance up=4*t

distance down=6*(3-t)----So:

4t=6(3-t) get rid of parens (distributive law)

4t=18-6t add 6t to both sides

4t+6t=18-6t+6t collect like terms

10t=18 divide both sides by 10

t=1.8 hr---------------------------------time to go up the hill

3-1.8=1.2 hr-----------------------------time to go down the hill

Hope this helps

Help me Please..
Fittoniya [83]
Just general definitons:

a TRInomial has 3 terms (tri means three)
a BInomial has 2 terms (bi means two)
a MONOmial has 1 term (mono means one)

the degree is the highest exponent found in the algebraic expression

so they should be pretty easy to solve with that information, but just in case:

1. trinomial, degree of 4
2. binomial, degree of 3
3. monomial, degree of 2

for the final question, all you have to do is plug in 2 for x, so

(2)^2 - 2(2) + 1

4 - 4 + 1

so the answer is 1

kkurt [141]
Answer

X1= 3-2 root3 x2= 1 x3=5 x4= 3 +2 root 3
First swap the sides then simplify the equation
Collect like terms
Move all the expression to the left to equal 0
Then collect like terms again
Reorder the terms from ^2 to ^4
Factor the expression
Change the signs
Separate into possible cases
Then sold the equation to equal 0
Then check solutions by subbing them in as x
Then you should have 4 perfect answers
