There are three main types of active transport are protein pump, endocytosis, and exocytosis. Protein pump uses energy in the form of ATP to move molecules against the concentration gradient (from high to low.) Endocytosis is the process of taking molecules INTO the cell. There are two types of endocytosis, pinocytosis and phagocytosis. Pinocytosis is the intake of liquid; phagocytosis is the intake of solids.
