The Inca Empire was divided into districts.

The districts were headed by governors and the Inca also created <em>haton</em>, which serves as the administrative center for the districts. The districts were also called <em>wamani</em>

<h2>Further Explanation</h2>

The form of government that was in place in the Inca Empire was a federalist system of government and it was made up of a central government.

The head of the central government is Inca and it’s comprised of four quarters.

The corners of all the four <em>suyu (quaters)</em> joined at Cusco, which is at the center. All the four quarters were created when Pachacuti Inca Yupanqui was the Sapa Inca. They were four created before the empire was transformed into the Inca Empire.

Each of the quarters was later split into provinces: the provinces are also called<em> wamani</em>.  The provinces were districts and they were headed by governors. When the districts were created, the Inca also created <em>"haton"</em> which serves as the administrative headquarters.

At a point, the districts were also further divided into saya and the number of saya that was created were based on different status.

The capital of the Inca Empire is known as Cusco and it was not really organized like the districts. The city is the seat of government and also serves as the center of religion.

Therefore, The Inca Empire was divided into districts.
