es, and I thought, Weird. Why wasn't it hung up with his suits? Had he come from a fancy party the night before he died? But then why would he have taken off his tuxedo without hanging it up? Maybe it needed to be cleaned? But I didn't remember a fancy party. I remembered him tucking me in.... How does the narration affect the story in this excerpt?

This question is missing the options. I've found them online:

[...] How does the narration affect the story in this excerpt?

A. Oskar’s memories introduce the use of symbolism.

B. Oskar’s slang characterizes him as relaxed and casual.

C. Oskar’s attempts to recall the events build suspense.

D. Oskar’s rapid questioning foreshadows his panic.

Answer:

The way the narration affects the story in the excerpt is:

C. Oskar’s attempts to recall the events build suspense.

Explanation:

This excerpt belongs to the novel "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close", by Jonathan Safran Foer. The narrator is Oskar, whose father was killed in the September 11 attacks. Notice that in this particular excerpt, the author has chosen to build suspense through Oskar's narration. He is attempting to recall something, but is unable to, leaving readers with the same doubts as him. We have no answer as to why his father's tuxedo was placed in such a strange place and manner. But since Oskar cannot recall what happened, we too cannot know.

Which word completes this analogy? Ambition is to determination as destiny is to ________
ale4655 [162]

Answer:

Fate

Explanation:

The words Ambition and Determination are synonymous. Words are said to be synonymous when they are similar or have the same meaning. A person who is ambitious is determined because he puts in his best to achieve what he wants.

In the same vein, the words Destiny and Fate are also synonymous. Both words have futuristic meanings and can be easily interchanged in sentences to connote the same meanings.
