Answer:

15 students study math and not English

Step-by-step explanation:

lets take the # or people who study math but not English as "x"

so 90 students study math or English

25 students study English and not math

and

50 study both

since 90 students study math or English that is what our equation will equal.

so

25+x+50=90

25+50=75

75+x=90

subtract "75" from both sides:

x=15

Hope this helps!

Sin(A+B) sin(A-B) /sin^A Cos^B=1-cot^A Tan^B
telo118 [61]

In order to prove

\dfrac{\sin(x+y)\sin(x-y)}{\sin^2(x)\cos^2(x)}=1-\cot^2(x)\tan^2(y)

Let's write both sides in terms of \sin(x),\ \sin^2(x),\ \cos(x),\ \cos^2(x) only.

Let's start with the left hand side: we can use the formula for sum and subtraction of the sine to write

\sin(x+y)=\cos(y)\sin(x)+\cos(x)\sin(y)

and

\sin(x-y)=\cos(y)\sin(x)-\cos(x)\sin(y)

So, their multiplication is

\sin(x+y)\sin(x-y)=(\cos(y)\sin(x))^2-(\cos(x)\sin(y))^2\\=\cos^2(y)\sin^2(x)-\cos^2(x)\sin^2(y)

So, the left hand side simplifies to

\dfrac{\cos^2(y)\sin^2(x)-\cos^2(x)\sin^2(y)}{\sin^2(x)\cos^2(y)}

Now, on with the right hand side. We have

1-\cot^2(x)\tan^2(y)=1-\dfrac{\cos^2(x)}{\sin^2(x)}\cdot\dfrac{\sin^2(y)}{\cos^2(y)} = 1-\dfrac{\cos^2(x)\sin^2(y)}{\sin^2(x)\cos^2(y)}

Now simply make this expression one fraction:

1-\dfrac{\cos^2(x)\sin^2(y)}{\sin^2(x)\cos^2(y)}=\dfrac{\sin^2(x)\cos^2(y)-\cos^2(x)\sin^2(y)}{\sin^2(x)\cos^2(y)}

And as you can see, the two sides are equal.

Find the area of a parallelogram if a base and corresponding altitude have the indicated lengths. Write your answer as a mixed n
seraphim [82]
There are several information's already given in the question. Based on the given information's the answer can be easily deduced.

Base of the parallelogram = 3 1/2 feet
                                          = 7/2 feet

Altitude of the parallelogram = 3/4 feet

Area of the parallelogram = base * Altitude
                                         = (7/2) * (3/4)
                                         = 21/8
                                         = 2 5/8 square feet

On average, William takes 2 less hours to assemble a computer than Douglas. If working together William and Douglas can assemble
horrorfan [7]
Let x = hours taken by William to assemble a computer.
Let y = hours taken by Douglas to assemble a computer

Because William takes 2 hours less than Douglas to assemble a computer, therefore
x = y - 2

When working together, they assemble 25 computers in 60 hours. Therefore
(x + y hours/computer)*(25 computers) = (60 hours)
25(x + y) = 60
x + y = 2.4

Because x = y - 2, obtain
y - 2 + y = 2.4
2y = 4.4
y = 2.2
x = y - 2 = 2.2 - 2 = 0.2

William takes 0.2 hours (12 minutes) to assemble a computer.
Douglas takes 2.2 hours (or 2 hours, 12 minutes) to assemble a computer.
