1)

Given two points: (x₁,y₁) and (x₂,y₂) the slope of the line passing through these points would be:
m=(y₂-y₁)/(x₂-x₁)

Data:
We have two points, (-3,4) and (2,-1), therefore, the slope of the line passing through these points will be:

m=(-1-4) /(2+3)=-5/5=-1

Answer: The slope would be -1.

2)
slope-intercept form of a line:
y=mx+b
m=slope
b=y-intercept

Therefore:
m=2
b=y-intercept=-4

The line would be: y=2x-4

answer: the equation of this line would be: y=2x-4

Turn 32/64 into a percent?
alexandr402 [8]

To turn 32/64 into a percent, you have to divide the numerator by the denominator and then multiply the answer by 100.

So, for this question, divide 32 by 64 which is 0.50. Multiply this decimal by 100 and you get 50.

So 50% is the percent for 32/64.

Hope it helps :)

Add the following fractions. See the image below
LenKa [72]

Answer:

\dfrac{19}{840}

Step-by-step explanation:

The given fraction is:

\dfrac{1}{168}+\dfrac{3}{180}

We need to solve it.

The LCM of 168 and 180 is 2520.

So,

\dfrac{1}{168}+\dfrac{3}{180}=\dfrac{15+3\cdot14}{2520}\\\\=\dfrac{19}{840}

So, the required answer is equal to \dfrac{19}{840}.

Why is it important to use estimation when solving problems
stellarik [79]
Well, it might not be important for most problems but..
If you're dividing, and the answer is a repeat..
You can estimate.

Example - 2.678 | You can estimate it to 2.68 and use that as an answer instead of a very long answer that's repeated.

I hope this helps.

A patio is to be made in the shape of an isosceles triangle as shown.

Answer:

  (a) 22 is not the correct value of h

  (b) 164 ft²

  (c) $2009

Step-by-step explanation:

(a) Apparently, the formula ...

  A = 1/2bh

was used. We recognize the base of the triangle is 16 feet, so apparently the formula was used with h=22.

22 is the side length, not the perpendicular distance from the base to the opposite vertex.

The computed value is not the area because 22 is not the height.

__

(b) Given three side lengths, an appropriate formula is Heron's formula:

  s = (a+b+c)/2 and A = √(s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c))

Here, we have ...

  s = (22 +22 +16)/2 = 30  and  A = √(30(8)(8)(14) = 16√105 ≈ 163.95

The area is about 164 square feet.

__

(c) At $12.25 per square foot, the cost of materials will be ...

  (164 ft²)($12.25/ft²) = $2009
