An archetype refers to a prototype after which other things are modelled. In literature, it refers to a character that represents a universal or well-known pattern of behaviour. Common archetypes are villains, heroes, damsels in distress and mentors.

The sheriff of Nottingham is an example of an archetype, as he demonstrates all the obvious characteristics of "villains." He is the main antagonist in the legend of Robin Hood. The sheriff is a tyrant, who mistreats the local people. He has no respect for justice and no concern for human suffering. He is ambitious, and values money and status above else. These are all well-known characteristics of typical villains.

2. Fools and foolishness are important themes in Twelfth Night. Describe the difference between the two kinds of fools the reade
taurus [48]
Hey!
Hope this helps...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The two different types of fools in the Twelfth Night, are the fools that are looked at like insane and/or madness. Although there is some controversy of this actually being foolishness, it is looked at that these types of people are fools because they are making fun of themselves and of their own being.
Another type of fool are well... Idiots. These types of fools are often looked at like those who cannot understand something given to them or are (for example) drunk when the information is given to them.
So the two types of fools are "idiots" and "madness/insanity"
Please help me I need a long response!!?
mezya [45]
I feel that Auden's poem creations a more powerful and emotional response in the reader becuase, I feel, you can describe a subject better or deeper with words than with a painting. I think it takes a little bit of skill to completely understand what the author is feeling when viewing a piece of artwork. The initial understanding I got from the painting was that people are unaware of other's suffering because they are too involved in everyday life, but Auden's poem digs deep into the subject that people are unaware of other peoples suffering when it is indeed going on.
