ANSWER

The lines are two intersecting lines. They intersect` at the point (\frac{1}{4}, \frac{9}{2})

<u>EXPLANATION</u>

To determine which type of lines, we look for the slopes of the two lines and compare them to see whether they are parallel or perpendicular.

The first line is y=2x+4--(1).

This line is already in the form;

y=mx+c, which is referred to as the slope intercept form, where m=2 is the slope.

The second line is

2y=-4x+10

Dividing through by 2 gives;

y=-2x+5--(2)

This implies that, this line also has a slope of -2.

Since the two slopes are not the same,the lines are not parallel.

Also the the product of the two slopes, -2\times 2 \ne -1, hence the two lines are  not perpendicular.

Adding equation (1) and (2) gives;

2y=9

\Rightarrow y=4.5

Putting y=4.5 in  equation (1) gives

4.5=2x+4

\Rightarrow 0.5=2x

\Rightarrow x=\frac{1}{4}.

Hence the two lines intersect` at the point (\frac{1}{4}, \frac{9}{2})

In this instance, the statement, "Is the water cold?" is not a proposition.  Therefore, <u>D. No</u>, because the statement does not make a claim; it is a question.

<h3>What is a proposition?</h3>

A proposition is a declarative statement that makes a claim that is either true or false.

Every proposition requires a solution or proof to find it true or not true.

Propositions need to be considered and debated before acceptance or rejection.

Thus, <u>Option D.</u> No, because the statement does not make a claim; it is a question.

The cost of producing x hundred items is given by the equation C(x) = x2 – 3x + 7 and the revenue generated from sales of x hund
Goryan [66]

Answer:

At x = 2 and 10.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : The cost of producing x hundred items is given by the equation C(x) = x^2-3x + 7

The revenue generated from sales of x hundred units is given by the equation R(x) = -x^2 + 21x-33

To Find :What values of x will the company break even?

Solution:

Cost function : C(x) = x^2-3x + 7

Revenue function : R(x) = -x^2 + 21x-33

Now to find the company break even :

-x^2 + 21x-33= x^2-3x + 7

24x= 2x^2+40

12x= x^2+20

x^2-12x+20=0

x^2-10x-2x+20=0

x(x-10)-2(x-10)=0

(x-2)(x-10)=0

So, x = 2,10

Hence the company break even at x = 2 and 10.

Since the two lines are parallel, the angle labeled 130 is congruent to the angle labeled x+ 136 so you can set them equal to each other

130 = x + 136
subtract 136 from both sides

x = -6
