while the Middle colonies and New England had few slaves. Most northern
immigrants were in the middle class, while most southerners were poor men
seeking work. Since they both had people seeking new and better lives, the colonies
were similar.</span>
In the early 19th century, the ruling political party was the Democratic-Republicans. They selected their candidate through a vote of their members in Congress. This system let them control the White House for 20 years. Then the rivalry of John Quincy Adams and Andrew Jackson.divided the Democratic-Republicans into two after the 1824 elections and became Democrats and Whigs.
The Delian League was formed to continue fighting the Persian Empire after Persia's invasions were finally defeated. .Those city-states who did not want to continue fighting Persia formed the Peloponnesian League, lead by Sparta. Under the Athenian leader Pericles, Athens began taking control of the Delian League.
A republic is any government that doesn't have a supreme leader. Many people confer with each other and make decisions.
