<em>Both constructive and destructive forces can affect landforms in a single region at the same time. </em>
Example of a constructive force is a volcanic eruption. It can lead to creation of a new landform, like the volcanic island of Anak Krakatau in Indonesia.
At the same time, the same region can experience destructive forces, such as <em>caldera phenomenon</em>. In the same area the island of Krakatoa was at the place where Anak Krakatau can be seen now . As a result of a massive eruption, a large cauldron-like formation of empty space have occurred in the surface of the Earth after magma came out of the volcano. As a result of gravity, the landmass sank into the ocean and the island of Krakatoa was destroyed.
