Answer:

a. the number of motor units that are activated.

b. the frequency of motor neuron action potentials in each motor unit.

Explanation:

When the need arise to increase the rate of contraction of skeletal muscles, input signals are sent to the brain. Output signal from the brain arrive as a simultaneous increase of active motor units within the muscles. This is represented as increase in Acetycholine neurotransmitters secretions diffusion across the synapse, more Ligand gated ion channels opening, more depolarisation, and action potentials propagation and generation. As a results there is rapid increase in Excitatory Post Synaptic Potential( EPSP) and increase in degree of Skeletal muscle contraction.

An increase in amount of depolarization, and therefore action potential generated, increases the frequencies of action potential at the receptors(receptor potential). This results in the degree of skeletal muscle contraction, because the increased action potential frequency is above the threshold levels to elicits responses in the muscle cells.

Answer:

Answer is A:The number of motor units that are activated

Explanation:

The frequency of motor neuron action potentials in each motor unit .

The motor unit consists of motor neuron and skeletal muscle fibers and together group of motor unit work in co-ordination to undergo contraction of the muscle. The motor neuron is a type of neuron which helps in sending signal to muscles and hence helps in its muscle contraction. These motor neurons originate within the spinal cord and hence helps in controlling the contraction and relaxation of the muscle. Depending on the number of motor units activated, it will define the degree of muscle contraction. When a greater number of motor units are activated, it will increase the rate of contraction. The frequency and rate at which each of the motor unit generates and send an action potential also helps in determining the contraction degree. When it generates higher action potential, it will relay the signal faster leading to varying degree of muscle contraction.

Why doesn't air temperature change uniformly with altitude?
babunello [35]
Altitude doesn't change uniformly because the four main layers of the atmosphere have different temperature gradients, creating the thermal structure of the atmosphere.

Which organelle prepares proteins for specific jobs?
oksian1 [2.3K]
Ribosomes.
Proteins are used for cellular repairing and chemical processes. Ribosomes are one of the most important organelles in the cell, mostly part of the rough endoplasmic reticulum. It manufactures enzymes such as proteins which will be utilized by many organelles in the cell. Microtubules are one, responsible for the framework and acts as a skeleton of the cell –cytoskeleton needs proteins, also cytoplasm and other organelles of the cell. For a prokaryote or a eukaryote cell to survive, they need protein. Fundamentally, the cell would cease to function and possibly die

How could genetic drift explain differences in the genotype frequencies among the caucasian and aborigine populations?
Novay_Z [31]

Genetic drift occurs when there is no random mating across a population. This causes a change in allelic frequency due to a random sampling of the population.

As the aboriginal population explored the earth, a small part of the population became geographically isolated either due to continental drift and climate changes. As the isolated population grew bigger, they established their own gene pool. This resulted a change in genotypic frequencies from that of the aboriginal population.

Why is dna replication said to be semi-conservative
Neko [114]

During DNA Replication, the DNA molecule unzips itself so that there are two free strands of DNA. Both of those strands then create new complementary strands of DNA. Thus every subsequent generation of DNA uses one of the parent cell's strand of DNA as a template, which is why DNA replication is said to be semi-conservative. Hope this helped!
