St Thomas Aquinas sought to defend the scholastic philosophy of Augustine, which is regarded as one of the best work of Thomas Aquinas. the Summa Theologica is also regarded as one of the classics of the history of philosophy. the main aim of the Summa is to serve as a guideline to students of philosophy/theology worldwide including the seminarians and also the laity.
The summa was an unfinished work as well but it didn't refute the Aristotelian philosophy. it didn't as well Synthesize platonic idealism with Christianity because it was like a guideline to students of theology.
