You could use:
past, ancient, bygone, early, forgotten, historical, prior, earlier, former, gone by, old, olden, premodern, previous, mediaeval, medieval, prehistoric, primaeval, primeval, way back.
These are some of the opposite words for modern. Hope this helps :)
