The psychologist and psychoanalyst Erik Erikson (1968) considers that adolescence is defined as the period in which the search for the identity that defines the individual occurs throughout his adult life. According to his theory of personality development, called "Psychosocial Theory", in adolescence is an identity crisis. Erikson distinguishes three forms of identity configuration in adolescence. These three forms are the diffusion of identity, by which they abandon characteristic features of their way of being; the confusion of identity, by which they plunge into isolation; and negative identity, which is represented by hostile behavior. Individuals in the puberty stage must undertake a search to reflect and find themselves.
