How would anaerobic conditions (when no O2 is present) affect the rate of electron transport and ATP production during oxidative phosphorylation? (Note that you should not consider the effect on ATP synthesis in glycolysis or the citric acid cycle.)

in the electron transport chain of oxidative phosphorylation oxygen(O2) is the final electron recipient( as it is very electronegative). This electronegativity of oxygen is how the electrons move down the chain and hydrogen ions are pumped leading to ATP production. When O2 is not present these processes don’t occur. Thus the cell can only depend on glycolysis for energy(ATP production).
