What was the Atlanta Compromise?
stellarik [79]

The notion of Atlanta Compromise is to share the responsibilities between the white community and black community with all acceptance.

Define Atlanta Compromise.

The Atlanta Compromise stemmed from a statement on race relations by Booker T. Washington, who was a black educator in the nineteenth century. He states that vocational education should be given to African Americans, which leads to good opportunities for economic security and is more valuable for them. The returns of African Americans should be accepted by the white community to improve the social and economic conditions for all Americans.

The idea of shared responsibilities is the Atlanta Compromise. It leads to adjustment and acceptance of the inferiority of the Negro race. And to reconstruct the era by providing good education to black people in crafts and industrial skills. and also create the cultivation of the virtues of peace and patience.

How was the Constitution significant in helping African Americans to gain civil rights?
nadya68 [22]
After the Civil War, the US Constitution became a means to ensure that African-Americans had rights in American society. This was due to the passage of the following three amendments:

1) 13th amendment- This outlawed slavery or forced labor all over the US.

2) 14th amendment- This amendment states that any person born on US soil or naturalized has all of the rights/freedoms guaranteed in the US Constitution.

3) 15th amendment- This amendment states that a person cannot be stopped from voting based on race, color, or past servitude. Essentially, this makes it so that a government can't stop a person from voting based on the fact that they were a slave before this time period.
