In a general sense, World War I and World War II were wars conducted on a massive scale unlike any other wars in history. They were similarly caused by nationalism, imperialism, alliances, and militarism. Both wars saw countries trying to upset the power balance in Europe for their own gain.

Differences:

World War one happened because of territory. However, World War two happened because of political instability. Both of these wars had different weapons and vehicles. World War one started in 1914 and ended in 1918.World War two started in 1939 and had ended in 1945.

Similarities:

The first way was that they were centered on the continent of Europe. In common, these wars were both America and Germany against each other. The Germans still had their leader Hitler which he had died in World War two.
