325 adult tickets were sold

Solution:

Let "a" be the number of adult tickets sold

Let "s" be the number of student tickets sold

Given that total 706 tickets were sold for the school play

Therefore,

number of adult tickets sold + number of student tickets sold = 706

a + s = 706 --------- eqn 1

There were 56 more student tickets sold than adult tickets

Number of student tickets sold = 56 + number of adult tickets sold

s = 56 + a ------- eqn 2

Let us solve eqn 1 and eqn 2

Substitute eqn 2 in eqn 1

a + 56 + a = 706

2a + 56 = 706

2a = 706 - 56

2a = 650

a = 325

Thus 325 adult tickets were sold

6x - 5y = 11
y = 7x + 21

What is the correct answer to this problem?
evablogger [386]

Answer:

X=-4, y=-7

Step-by-step explanation:

6x-5y=11.     1st equation

y=7x+21    2nd equation

6x-5(7x+21)=11. Sub value of y in 2nd equation (7x+22) into 1st equation

6x-35x-105=11. Solve by distributative property

-29x-105=11.   Add x values

-29x=116. add 105 to both sides

x=-4.                Solve for x

solve for y:

y=7x+21

y=7(-4)+21

y=-28+21

y=-7

check answer by substituting x and y into either equation

6x-5y=11

6(-4)-5(-7)=11

-24+35=11

11=11

Leni [432]

Answer:

C, B

Step-by-step explanation:

     x        y

A 34     408

B 40     480

C 46     588

A= $12/hour

B= $12/hour

C= $12.78/hour

The difference between A and B is 72. The difference between B and C is 108.

Answer:

  C  3x +1 = y

Step-by-step explanation:

x-values increase by 1 from row to row.

y-values increase by 3 from row to row.

The slope of the linear function is the ratio of the y-increase to the x-increase:

  m = ∆y/∆x = 3/1 = 3

The only offered choice with an x-coefficient of 3 is ...

  C  3x +1 = y

__

If you check this against the table entries, you find it fits.

  3(1) +1 = 4

  3(2) +1 = 7

and so on.
