In which sentence does the verb agree with the subject?

English

guajiro [1.7K]3 years ago

The correct answer is C, because in the first two examples, 'the news' and 'mumps' have to take a verb in singular form, not plural. And C is correct because 'forensics' is singular, therefore the verb has to be singular as well, 'is'.

Please correct the wrong verbs! Thank you!
balandron [24]
The instruction in the picture reads: Correct the three pronoun-related errors in this paragraph:

For many, there's no escaping it. The daily commute to and from work is as unavoidable as day and night. But it could become a lot more interesting. The American Helicopter Association is offering a large cash prize for inventors and engineers to come up with new and experimental kinds of airborne transport. Who knows, perhaps one day his commute to work will take place not on a bicycle but on a bicycle-powered craft. Does your workplace have a landing pad on the roof or a runway nearby? The day when she does might just be closer than they think!

His: In this sentence, the expression has an unknown subject. It is incorrect to say his because the gender of the subject is unknown as this is meant for the general public. Instead, it should say either your.
She ... they: The same line of thought is observed in this sentence. The paragraph speaks in imperative voice directly to the reader. Therefore, the question should be The day when they (the worplace) do might just be closer than you think.
