How to work -1x-2y=-13 x-2y=11 equation by substitution

Well if you're wanting to use substitution, you first have to end up with one term on either side of the equation. Use the second one as it's easiest.

So: x-2y=11, so find -2y as there is a -2y in the first equation.
then that becomes -2y=11-x. then sub that into equation 1, and you get:

-x+11-x=-13, which equals to -2x+11=-13, which is -2x=-24, so therefore

x=12. then chuck the x into any of the equations to find what y equals.

hope this helps!

Write the ratio as a percent
sdas [7]

Answer:

68%

Step-by-step explanation:

Percent means out of 100, so lets see if we can change the fraction to have a denominator of 100

34/50 * 2/2 = 68/100

This is 68%

A polygon has vertices whose coordinates are A(1, 4), B(4, -1), C(-1, -4), and D(-4, 1). Use the midpoint formula to determine w
Alenkinab [10]

Answer:

The diagonals of the polygon ABCD bisect each other

Step-by-step explanation:

The given vertices of the polygon are;

A(1, 4), B(4, -1), C(-1, -4), and D(-4, 1)

Given that the vertices of the polygon in clockwise order from the top left corner are ABCD, we have the diagonals as AC and DB

By the midpoint formula, we have;

(x_m , \ y_m) = \left (\dfrac{x_1 + x_2}{2} , \ \dfrac{y_1 + y_2}{2} \right )

Where;

(x_m , \ y_m) = The midpoint coordinates

Therefore, the midpoint of diagonal AC = \left (\dfrac{1 + (-1)}{2} , \ \dfrac{4 + (-4)}{2} \right ) = (0, 0)

The midpoint  of diagonal DB = \left (\dfrac{(-4) +4}{2} , \ \dfrac{1 + (-1)}{2} \right ) = (0, 0)

Therefore, given that the coordinates of the location of the midpoint of the diagonals AC and DB is the same, the diagonals bisect each other

Each diagonal passes through the midpoint of the other diagonal.

Go Math Math Homework Lesson 8.4
kvasek [131]
Breanna exercises for 4 and 1/2 hours during the six days.

To find the answer, we have to multiply 3/4 by 6.

To do this, we change 6 to 6/1 and multiply straight across.

3/4 x 6/1 = 18/4 = 9/2

9/2 is the same as 4 and 1/2

If the length of AC equals 18, what is the length of the midsection DE
Free_Kalibri [48]

Answer:

The length of the midsegment is 9 ⇒ (B)

Step-by-step explanation:

In a triangle,

  • The midsegment is the segment which joining the midpoints of two opposite sides of it
  • The length of the midsegment is half the length of the third side in the triangle which opposite to it

<em>Let us use this rule to solve our question</em>

In Δ AC

∵ DE is the midsegment of it

∵ DE is opposite to the side AC

∴ The length of DE = 1/2 the length of AC

∵ The length of AC = 18

∴ The length of DE = 1/2 × 18

∴ The length of DE = 9

∴ The length of the midsegment is 9

The correct answer is B
