The sources which provide direct and firsthand experience about and object, person and event are known as a primary source. They are used as the original material for the research and helps us to get close to a past event and period. The published materials such as newspaper reports and magazines belonging to a particular time period are also primary sources. Newspaper reports provide an account of the past events written by reporters, it can be used as a primary source for research. Other primary sources are photographs and posters, letters and surveys.
