Republican presidents favored business expansion, economic growth and cutting taxes instead of state regulation. On the other hand, Republican administrations continued to intervene in the affairs of foreign nations; they supported the interests of American corporations in Latin America. The 1920s also saw military interventions in the Caribbean (for example, Marines left Nicaragua in 1925 and then reocuppied the country in 1927).
