La Carta de las Naciones Unidas (también conocida como la Carta de las Naciones Unidas) de 1945 es el tratado fundamental de las Naciones Unidas, una organización intergubernamental. La Carta de las Naciones Unidas articuló un compromiso para defender los derechos humanos de los ciudadanos y esbozó un amplio conjunto de principios relacionados con el logro de 'niveles de vida más altos', abordando 'problemas económicos, sociales, de salud y relacionados' y 'respeto universal y observancia de derechos humanos y libertades fundamentales para todos, sin distinción de raza, sexo, idioma o religión.  Como una carta, es un tratado constitutivo, y todos los miembros están obligados por sus artículos.
