History

People in China spend approximately eight hours per week reading. In China, the curriculum for primary school (elementary school) learn nearly three thousand Chinese characters. Their schooling is very regimented and emphasizes intense reading habits. This allows Chinese students to acquire new problem-solving methods from their reading, giving them an edge later in their school careers.

This of course puts students in a tight habit of reading, even into their later years, giving them the third highest average reading hours per week in the world.

The country where people spend an average of eight hours reading per week is China. China citizens spend eight hours reading per person per week.

EXPLANATION:

A research conducted in 2005 shows that China is the third most country with a high number of hours spent on reading. The first country which reads the most is India with an average hour spent reading ten hours forty-two minutes. The second country which reads the most is Thailand with average hours spent reading nine hours twenty-four minutes. Here is the complete list of the top ten countries which read the most:

1. India   : 10:42

2. Thailand          : 09:24

3. China   : 08:00

4. Philippines  : 07:36

5. Egypt   : 07:30

6. Czech Republic : 07:24

7. Russia   : 07:06

8. Sweden           : 06.54

9. France   : 06:54

10. Hungary          : 06:48

Unfortunately, the USA and UK don’t include in the top ten most countries with high average hours spent on reading. USA is on the 23rd while the UK is on the 26th. USA average hours spent on reading is five hours forty-two minutes. UK average hours spent on reading is five hours eighteen minutes. Yet, there are ways to improve that number but cultivating a reading habit, such as:

• Reduce internet and television

• Get used to going to the book shops

• Visit the library often

• Read fun and compelling books

• Have a reading hour or reading day

Who called for troops right after the firing on Fort Sumter?
stealth61 [152]

Answer:

Abraham Lincoln called for troops right after the firing on Fort Sumter.

Explanation:

The bombing of Fort Sumter, a fort that housed the Federal Army, at the entrance to the bay off Charleston, South Carolina, took place on April 12, 1861.

After South Carolina declared secession from the Union on December 20, 1860, its example was followed by six other states in the southern United States, and they formed an independent Confederation. In early April 1861, North Carolina authorities demanded that the Federal Army leave Fort Sumter, a fort located in an area no longer considered part of the Union. The Union refused to give up the fort, and when the deadline for the ultimatum passed, the Confederate army began artillery barrage fire, which lasted until the surrender of the fortress. No life was lost on either side in the direct conflict. President Abraham Lincoln used this event as a symbolic justification for calling 75,000 volunteers into the Union Army for the purpose of suppressing the insurgency.
