Nativists are people who do not like immigrants. So which of the choices would Nativists NOT SUPPORT?

The Chinese Exclusion Act was blatantly anti-immigrant. Nativists thought it was great.

Nob violence against immigrants was clearly anti-immigrant. Nativists might have thought it excessive, but they favored the feelings behind it.

The Dillingham Report recommended ways to keep out "undesirable immigrants." To Nativists, it was a good step on the way.

But the Fourteenth Amendment, with its stress on equality and the restriction of states to define citizenship in restrictive ways. Nativists thought this was a bad law all the way around.

The Dillingham Report was written at a time when fear of immigrants ran high.

It did not change attitudes -- it merely reinforced them.

It argued that many immigrants could not assimilate so that they would never fit into the melting pot.

It did have an effect on the American public.

It prepared public opinion for greater restrictions on immigration.
