Walbin Corporation uses the weighted-average method in its process costing system. The beginning work in process inventory in a

particular department consisted of 16,500 units, 100% complete with respect to materials cost and 40% complete with respect to conversion costs. The total cost in the beginning work in process inventory was $24,600. A total of 50,000 units were transferred out of the department during the month. The costs per equivalent unit were computed to be $1.30 for materials and $3.00 for conversion costs. The total cost of the units completed and transferred out of the department was:

Answer:

Total cost of units transferred out =$215,000

Explanation:

The total cost of units transferred out would be determined as follows

Value of units transferred out =

Material cost of units transferred out + Labor cost of units transferred out

Cost for each element= cost per equivalent unit× no of equivalent units

Note that using the weighted average method, the number of equivalent unit for material and labour is taken to be 100% for the unit transferred out.

Material cost = $1.30 × 50,000 = 65,000

Labour cost = $3.00× 50,000 = 150,000

Total cost of units transferred out =65,000 + 150,000 = $215,000

Mandy Feng employs Jay Johnson at a salary of $35,000 a year. Feng is subject to employer Social Security taxes at a rate of 6.2
Elden [556K]

Answer: $38,097.50

Explanation:

Mandy Feng has to pay Johnson $35,000 for the year as well as various taxes. Adding all of these up is the total cost of hiring Johnson to Mandy Feng.

Calculating therefore we have,

= Salary + Social Security Taxes + Medicare Taxes + SUTA Tax + FUTA Tax

Remember, it is stated that FUTA and SUTA are applicable to only the first $7,000 of Johnson's pay.

= 35,000 + (6.2% * 35,000) + (1.45% * 35,000) + ( 5.4% * 7,000) + ( 0.6% * 7,000)

= 35,000 + 2,170 + 507.50 + 378 + $42

= $38,097.50

The total cost to Feng of employing Johnson for the year is $38,097.50

ser-zykov [4K]

Answer and Explanation:

As per the data given in the question,

Calculation for direct material and equivalent conversion is presented below:

Particulars Materials Conversion cost

      Units (a) % of completion (b) Equivalent units (a ×b) % of completion (d) Equivalent units (a × d)

Beginning WIP 6,000 units 0% 0 50%

3,000 units

Completed units 76,200 units 100% 76,200 100%

76,200 units

Ending WIP 4,600 units 100% 4,600 units 65%

2,990 units

Total 86,800 units 80,800 units

82,190 units

Working notes

1. The 50% is considered as 50% is beginning work in process so the remaining would be considered

2. The 76,200 units is come from

= 82,200 units - 6,000 units

= 76,200 units

3. And at last we total beginning WIP + completed units and ending WIP

A major difference between financial statement auditors and fraud examiners is that most financial statement auditors: a. match
Oksi-84 [34.3K]

Answer: Option A

Explanation: An auditor refers to an individual who is certified by an authority to perform an audit. The auditor provides an independent opinion as if the statements of the company are prepared as per the accounting and auditing standards.

Fraud examiners are the individuals who investigates an activity which is concluded to be a fraud already.

The difference between the two is, the auditor initially ascertains if there is a fraud while the fraud examiner tries to ascertain who is guilty of performing the fraud.

Hence from the above we can conclude that the correct option is A.
