A bond with a face value of $6,000 and an annual coupon rate of 12% convertible semiannually will mature in ten years for its fa
Alinara [238K]

Answer:

Premium is $2,677.95

The premium amortization on the 7th payment is $119

Explanation:

In order to arrive at the premium on the bond,it is necessary to compute the issuing price of the bond,which can be done using the pv formula in excel as shown below:

=-pv(rate,nper,pmt,fv)

rate is the semi-annual yield to maturity on the bond which is 6%/2=3%

nper is the number of coupon interest payable by the bond,which is 10 years multiplied by 2=20

pmt is the semi-annual coupon payable by the  bond i.e 12%/2*$6000=$360

fv is the face value of the bond which is $6,000

=-pv(3%,20,360,6000)

pv=$8,677.95

premium=issue price -face value

premium=$$8,677.95-$6,000

premium=$2,677.95

The premium amortization is the excess of coupon payment  over the interest expense.

In the attached, I calculated the premium amortization on the 7th payment.

I started by taking the issue price of $8677.95 ,added interest expense at 3% semi-annually ,deducted the coupon payment of $360,thereby leaving the outstanding balance at end of the year.

Note that the premium amortization is the excess of coupon payment over interest expense as colored coded.

In addition to telling readers why an illustration is important, why else should you refer to it in the text of your document?
Bumek [7]

Answer:

To assist the readers to relate objects and actions with texts.

Explanation:

Aside from telling readers why an illustration is important, the other reason you should refer to it in the text of your document is "to assist the readers to relate objects and actions with texts."

This is evident in the fact that illustration in a text is a means of presenting a graphical representation of ideas, processes, or theories to aid or give elaborate meaning to what is written.

Jeremy earned $100,000 in salary and $6,000 in interest income during the year. Jeremy’s employer withheld $11,200 of federal in
iragen [17]

Answer:

Tax Due by Jeremy is $218

Explanation:

Step 1: Calculate Jeremy's total Income

$100,000 (Salary) + $6,000 (Interest Income) + $4,000 (long term capital gain)=  $110,000

Jeremy's exclusion at this point is 0.

Therefore, Jeremy's Gross income = $110,000, This is also Jeremy's Adjusted Gross Income (AGI).

Step 2: Calculate Taxable Income after deductions.

AGI= $110,000

Deductions from AGI= $23,000 (The greater of standard or itemized deduction).

Qualified Business Income Deductions (QBI)= $0 (Jeremy did not declare any personal business).

Taxable Income= AGI-Deductions- QBI Deductions

= $110,000-$23,000-0

= $87,000

Step 3: Calculate Jeremy's Tax Liability as follows:

Capital Gain is included as part of Gross Income, therefore finding the tax liability will necesitate that the capital gain be deducted and only the taxable percentage be added back.

Jeremy's tax liability = (87,000-4,000) + (4,000 x 0.15)

= ($83,000 x 15.4%) + 600

=$12,818 + 600

=$13,418

Jeremy's total tax Liability= $13,418 - $0 (non refundable tax credit) + 0 (other taxes)

Jeremy's total tax liability = $13,418

The total tax payment made by Jeremy

=(2,000 + 11,200)= $13,200

Therefore the tax due by Jeremy is Total Tax Liability - Tax Payment mande

= $13,418 - $13,200

= $218

A process has low fixed costs and high variable costs. It is currently capacity-constrained. Will the impact of an efficiency im
Lubov Fominskaja [6]

Answer:

Small

Explanation:

Fixed costs are the costs that do not change when output level changes, while variable costs are costs that change as output quantity changes.

When a production process is capacity constrained, it implies that there is a factor that does not allow it to produce more output. Examples of such factors are minor bottlenecks, constrained designs and resources, and others.

A process is said to be efficient when it can avoid waste of resources in producing desired output.

Efficiency improvement therefore occurs when more output can be produced with less resources.

In the question, given that the process is currently capacity-constrained, efficiency improvement will result in producing more output at higher costs because of high variable costs despite that the process has low fixed costs.

As a result, the impact of an efficiency improvement will be small because producing more output will result in incurring higher cost due to high variable costs that change as quantity of output changes. That is, the impact of efficiency improvement will be small because high variable costs with low fixed cost will result in higher production cost.
