They were surprised because the inexperienced Union Troops had fled back to Washington and the Battle of Bull Run was a smashing victory for the south that had won by Jackson. To put it simply, they thought they were going to win.

One of the most notable battles during the American Civil War was the battle of Bull Run. This battle took place on 21st July 1861 in Prince William County, Virginia. In this battle, the Southern confederacy achieved victory. The main reason why so many Northers were amazed at the consequence of the battle was that the Union troops were larger in contrast to the Confederate troops and though the Northern troops failed to achieve victory. Moreover, the Northern apprehended that the war could be long-drawn and rigorous.

Why was it so difficult to abolish slavery without more federal control? Name three significant things that happened as a result
grandymaker [24]

Answer:

Answer given below.

Explanation:

It was challenging to abolish slavery from America because it was the backbone of the South economy. The South, before the Civil War, had more freedom to make its laws. Southerners broke from the government and formed the Confederate States with its constitution and currency. To stop the practice of slavery the Federal government role became crucial.

The Civil War lasted for four years because the South fought it well. After the war, slavery was officially ended and outlawed in the U.S. The nation unified as one and individual states placed under federal control.

The reason both were bitter to one another was the different ideas and destruction it brought. The South blamed the North for invading and destroying their economy. The North blamed the South for breaking up the Union and favouring slavery.

Which civil war battle was fought from the 15th to the 16th of december 1864?
Andreyy89

Answer:

The Battle of Nashville.

Explanation:

The Confederate forces, commanded by John Bell Hood, had already suffered heavy casualties against General John Scofield, at Franklin, Tennessee. When Scofield moved north to Nashville to reunite with General George Thomas, Hood followed him, despite being greatly outnumbered, and placed his troops outside Nashville's strong defenses.

Thomas saw the opportunity to strike the decisive blow and took it. The confederate army suffered a terrible defeat, and the few survivors had to retreat to Mississippi.

Hood signed his resignation shortly after that.
