Stairs are the steps directed in an inclined position to reach the upper level, they are made for the ease to climb, stairs are now being exchanged with elevators and escalators.

Machu Picchu stairs have 1600 steps, these steps lead the way to Huayna Picchu (a cliff). The highest level is about 2700 meters, these stairs are difficult to climb but still is a tourist destination.

These stairs were made to protect Sapa Inca and the family from invaders these stairs were made, also the city of Machu Picchu was saved by this from the invaders.
