Jamestown became the first permanent English settlement in America, founded in 1607. The main reason for establishing a colony in America was for economic investment. Jamestown Colony in the early seventeenth century was difficult because of the harsh climate and the hostile Indians. The settlers suffered from diseases like malnutrition, dysentery, typhoid and scurvy. English colonists held much focused on finding gold than giving much attention to growing crops. At last, there were no raids from the Spanish in Jamestown colony as it was established far away from other Europeans in the New World.
The Spanish were successful in conquering the native Americans because the Spanish had more weapons to force the Native's out of their territory. <span />
