How did the Civil War affect the economies of the North and South?

History
1 answer:
algol [13]4 years ago
5 0

Answer:

There was great wealth in the South, but it was primarily tied up in the slave economy. In 1860, the economic value of slaves in the United States exceeded the invested value of all of the nation's railroads, factories, and banks combined. On the eve of the Civil War, cotton prices were at an all-time high.

Explanation:

The Civil War benefited the Northern economy, but it left the Southern economy in absolutely terrible condition. ... The North had a more industrialized economy and therefore benefited from the railroad boom and the manufacturing of wartime products.

Vikki [24]

Answer:

Decline in trade, People gained opportunities for social class mobility and Wars broke out

Explanation:

The massive decline in trade was due to so many people dying from this illness which caused demand to reduce.

The lower clsss gained opportunities, since many died it was difficult to find field hands/laborers which used to be in abundance, now the workers gained bargaining for higher wages.

And wars stared to break out most notably the 100 years war between multiple kingdoms trying to fight for the right to rule over France
