I saw a cartoon the other day of an Afghan standing beside the road looking at all the head gear of those trying to conquer the region -- Rome, Russia, one more I can't remember and  The US. It's quite a list. History should have told America to stay out.

If Russia couldn't do it, (and she's much closer to Afghanistan than America is) then it should have been a warning not to try.
