It takes 32 hours for Tim’s painting to be better deal.

<u>SOLUTION: </u>

Given, Shirley is going to have the exterior of her home painted

Tim’s painting charges \$ 250 plus \$14 per hour

Colorful pens charges \$22 per hour

We have to find required hours for Tim’s painting to be the better deal . Let the number hours be h.  So, Tim’s charges = colorful pens charges

\rightarrow 250+\mathrm{h} \times 14=\mathrm{h} \times 22 \rightarrow 14 \mathrm{h}+250=22 \mathrm{h} \rightarrow 22 \mathrm{h}-14 \mathrm{h}=250 \rightarrow 8 \mathrm{h}=250 \rightarrow \mathrm{h}=31.25

Now, Let us check charges after 32 hours.

\begin{array}{l}{\text { Tim charges } \rightarrow 250+32 \times 14 \rightarrow 250+448 \rightarrow \$ 698} \\\\ {\text { His charge at } 31 \text { hours } \rightarrow 698-14 \rightarrow \$ 684} \\\\ {\text { Colorful pens charges } \rightarrow 32 \times 22 \rightarrow 704} \\\\ {\text { His charge at } 31 \text { hours } \rightarrow 704-22 \rightarrow \$ 682}\end{array}

So, at 31 hours colorful pens are economical but at 32 hours Tim painting is economical.

Ann, Claire, and Josh collect stickers. One week, Ann collects 7 more stickers than Josh. Josh collects twice as many stickers a
UkoKoshka [18]

Answer:

Claire = 30 stickers

Josh = 60 stickers

Ann = 67 stickers

Step-by-step explanation:

Let

Claire stickers= x

Josh = 2x

Ann= 2x + 7

Total stickers = 157

Total stickers = Claire stickers + Josh stickers + Ann stickers

157 = x + (2x) + (2x+7)

157 = x + 2x + 2x + 7

157 = 5x + 7

Subtract 7 from both sides

157 - 7 = 5x + 7 - 7

150 = 5x

Divide both sides by 5

150/5 = x

30 = x

x = 30

Claire stickers= x

=30 stickers

Josh = 2x

= 2(30)

= 60 stickers

Ann= 2x + 7

= 2(30) + 7

= 60 + 7

= 67 stickers

Claire = 30 stickers

Josh = 60 stickers

Ann = 67 stickers

Sam is ordering shirts online. The shipping is a flat rate of $5.99, and each shirts costs $12.50. He spent $80.99 in total. How
ANEK [815]

Based on the shipping rate and the price of the t-shirts, it can be concluded Sam ordered a total of 6 t-shirts.

<h3>What equation represents Sam's situation?</h3>

5.99 + x12.50 = 80.99

x represents the number of t-shirts she bough, which is the focus of the equation.

Let's solve it:

  • 5.99 + x12.50 = 80.99
  • x12.50 = 80.99 - 5.99
  • x12.50 = 75
  • x = 75 / 12.50
  • x = 6

<h3>How many t-shirts did Sam order?</h3>

Sam ordered 6 t-shirts.
