The correct answer is D) By keeping the government from serving as the only information source.

Freedom of the press guard liberty by keeping the government from serving as the only information source.

In a free country, people can say anything they want. They have the right to be informed. For that to happen, freedom of the press is a requirement. Media outlets and newspapers need to go look for the news from many sources, not only the government, as happens in non-democratic countries where dictators control information and only communicate what the consider necessary and no more.
