We know that

A large pump can drain an 80,000 gallon pool------------> in 3 hours
X gallons---------------------------------------------------------> in 2 hour
X=2*80000/3----------> 53333.33 gallons in 2 hour

therefore
the smaller pump in two hours drain an [80000-53333.33]=26666.67 gallons

if the smaller pump drain 26666.67 gallons-----------------> in 2 hours
80000 gallons------------------------------------------------> X
X=80000*2/26666.67------> 6 hours

the answer is
the smaller pump to drain the pool by itself would take 6 hours

 • x = 2.33

Step-by-step explanation:

We know that when there is an absolute value sign, the value inside the bars is always positive.

 • => I3x + 3I = 10
 • => 3x + 3 = 10
 • => 3x = 10 - 3
 • => 3x = 7
 • => x = 7/3
 • => x = 2.33 (Rounded to nearest hundredth)

Hence, the value of x is 2.33.

Steven and his family ordered a meal the cost 136.50. Steven paid 14% sales tax and left a 20% tip on 136.50. What was the total
Ne4ueva [31]

Answer:

The total cost was $182.91.

Step-by-step explanation:

Tax formula:

tax=tax percentage×amount

Tip formula:

tip=tip percentage×amount

solve

First find the tax. Write 14% as the decimal 0.14 before using it in the equation.

tax

= tax percentage×amount

= 0.14×136.50

= 19.11

The tax was $19.11.

Now find the tip. Write 20% as the decimal 0.20 before using it in the equation.

tip

= tip percentage×amount

= 0.20×136.50

= 27.3

The tip was $27.30.

Finally, find the total cost.

total cost

= cost + tax+tip

= 136.50+19.11+27.30

= 182.91
