The texts written by these two authors are really relevant to people in the middle age, since these theologists gave people of that age new tools in order to understand and interpret the Scriptures. As faith was truly important in the middle age, having a reliable way to know, learn and understand what was written in those passages, it was essential. Therefore, the teachings of ST. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas were helpful and useful for faithful followers who wanted to have a closer connection with Jesus, and in that time, it became necessary to have some sources of knowledge which could allow to approach to what they wanted and needed to know regarding the Holy Scriptures.
