I assume you are talking about "The best camping trip of his life" by Tracy Wilson. If not then disregard.

As Landon reeled in a tiny brim he looked over at his dad and said, "You know what, Dad, this is the most fun I’ve ever had." Even though his throat was tightening in an effort to hold back tears, David managed to say, "Me too, Son, me too."

He says that this is the most fun he's ever had, so he obviously is enjoying spending time with his dad

When David's dad arrived Landon was excited.
