Socrates liked to pose questions to people in order for them to figure out the answer by themselves. They were leading questions so it would prompt thought in the student who eventually would arrive at their own conclusion. He himself felt he had no ideas and felt it wise to understand he was ignorant about many things. In order to gain higher knowledge he promoted asking a lot of questions. In teaching today mostly straight didactic method used where a student sits and listens to a teacher ramble on and on about their chosen subject. It's easy to doze off in class because you lose interest unless you get to instead ask a lot of questions and get involved in the subject and start getting revelations about the subject matter.
“A hot spot develops above the plume. Magma generated by the hot spot rises through the rigid plates of the lithosphere and produces active volcanoes at the Earth's surface. As oceanic volcanoes move away from the hot spot, they cool and subside, producing older islands, atolls, and seamounts.” Oregon State University
Both the polar regions are cold because they get very less solar radiation than mid latitudes and the tropics.
Explanation:
South Pole is very cold than the North Pole because as it is situated on the top of thick ice sheet. The surface of the sheet of ice at the South Pole is higher than 9000 feet altitude than mile half above the sea level.
Antarctica is the highest continent present in the Earth, Comparing to that in the middle portion of the Arctic Ocean the North Pole resides , where the floating ice surface moves only a foot or it is above the sea that is surrounded.
The Arctic Ocean acts as a heat reservoir that warms the cold atmosphere during winter and draws heat from atmosphere during summer.
