AMERICAN LIT ( THE OVERCOAT) PLEASE HELP

English
1 answer:
sp2606 [1]3 years ago

The description "....is customary amongst well-bred officials." is important for the passage because It magnifies the isolation and humiliation that characterize Akakiy’s situation.

Nikolai Gogol, the writer of " The Overcoat", in this description shows the way in which the main character, Akakiy, is treated by his co-workers. The writer ,ironically, refers to Akakiy's co-workers as well-bred officials. In Russia , a bureaucratic society, each state official was expected to be educated and learned - well-bred-, however these manners were not the manners they used when addressing Akakiy. He was humiliated by his co-workers because they laughed at him all the time.

If you were in a command of a team, and the players of your team continues to sprain their ankles, what would you recommend?
sleet_krkn [62]

Answer:

Have them sit out and rest, then train until they can do the sport without spraining their ankles.

Explanation:

It can seem harsh to have them not participate, especially when they may love the sport, but if they can't get a good handle on how to use their ankles, then you, as the commander, need to take responsibility and have them sit out and regain their ankles so that they don't injure themselves even further. Give them an ice pack, have them train themselves slowly in the sport until they're capable of doing stuff without injuring themselves, then put them back on once they're fine and dandy.

What is the most important event that happened in chapter 8 of the book, The outsiders and why?
Rama09 [41]

Answer: The most important event in chapter eight of The Outsiders is Ponyboy and Randy's conversation outside of the diner. The significance of this scene is that Randy and Ponyboy find a common ground by talking about Bob and the school children. Randy realizes that Greasers are more than just hot-headed guys who like to fight, and Pony realizes that just because the Socs are different, they are people too, just like him. They both leave with a better understanding of each other, almost like bridging a gap between the Socs and Greasers.
