Answer:

The mean absolute deviation is 1

Step-by-step equation =

Take all of the numbers and add them together.

4+1+2+1+0+1= 9

Then divide by how many numbers there are. In this word problem its 6.

Divide 9 by 6.

9 ÷ 6 = 1.5

So 1.5 would be our mean.

To find the mean absolute deviation subtract our mean and our original numbers.

1.5 - 4 = 2.5

1.5 - 1 = 0.5

1.5 - 2 = -0.5

1.5 - 1 = 0.5

1.5 - 0 = 1.5

1.5 - 1 = 0.5

Add all of those numbers together.

2.5 + 0.5 + 0.5 + 0.5 + 1.5 + 0.5 = 6

<em>Even though one of the numbers was a negative answer we add it as a positive because the mean absolute deviation can never be negative</em>

Divide by the amount of numbers you added.

6 ÷ 6 = 1

So the mean absolute deviation is 1

Is this a linear function , why or why not ? explain <br> y=x^2-1
kotykmax [81]
If you graph out y = x^2 - 1, you'll see that it is a curved parabola. It is not a straight line. So visually this shows the equation is not linear. It's considered nonlinear.

Algebraically, the given equation does not fit the form y = mx+b which is slope intercept form. So this is more confirmation that we do not have a linear function.

What does 49.39 round to.
Verizon [17]
If you want to round 49.39 to the nearest tenths place you will have to look at your tenths digit. The digit is 3, right? Look at the next number after 3. It is the number 9 for the hundredths place. If the number is bigger than 5 you round it. If it is smaller, you keep it the same. 9 is bigger than 5 so you make the 3 into a 4. Then, you're answer is 49.4 or 49.40 (Which are basically the same answer) It also works the same with the other digits. Simple, right? :)
