The sentence "Mommy wasn't even approachable on the subject of her son" supports the inference that the author's mother was aware of Russell's condition. The fact that no one was or is able to speak to her about what may be going on with her son tells that she was aware of what issue he may have had.

Compare the word alleys and ponies how are they alike how are they different

KengaRu [80]

While both have to very different meanings, both have a definition of meaning something small (alley - small passage, pony - small horse, pour, or amount of money). Both are 6 letters, but when made plural, are spelling differently (alleys - just add s, ponies - drop the y, add ies). Both are Latin in origin, changing letter to French. But alley is late middle English, with pony being from the mid 17th century.

What does the metaphor of the mirror being “The eye of a little god, four-cornered” suggest?
Luba_88 [7]
D.) The woman goes to the mirror dutifully, as one who dutifully worships.

Comparing the mirror to the eye of a god shows that the woman is constantly going to the mirror as one goes to church regularly. She is trying to gain some sort of heavenly insight into herself, as someone would be trying to get religious insight by worshiping.
