Explanation:

A criminal trial takes place when an individual commits an act prohibited by law. If found guilty, he could be made to pay fines, sent to jail or even face the death sentence. The prosecutor who could be the police or government represented by a Lawyer takes the case to court. The defendant who is the accused is also represented by his own lawyer.

The process begins with an arrest, initial appearance, preliminary hearing, arraignment and trial. After trial, the jurors deliberate on the case and come to a unanimous decision on what the verdict would be. The verdict is then read by the judge, who pronounces the defendant guilty or not guilty.
